Description
A delicious recipe for cannelloni stuffed with ground beef and ricotta, topped with béchamel and Parmesan cheese.

- 12 large cannelloni tubes
- 500g ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 400g canned diced tomatoes
- 250g ricotta cheese
- 100g grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 300ml béchamel sauce
- Olive oil for frying
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until they’re soft and fragrant.
- Stir in the ground beef and cook until browned. Break up any large clumps as it cooks.
- Add the canned tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Stir in the ricotta cheese and half of the Parmesan cheese until well combined.
- Using a small spoon or a piping bag, carefully fill each cannelloni tube with the meat mixture.
- Spread a bit of béchamel sauce on the bottom of a baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Place the stuffed cannelloni in the baking dish in a single layer.
- Pour the remaining béchamel sauce over the filled cannelloni, making sure they’re well coated.
- Finish by sprinkling the remaining Parmesan cheese on top.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until bubbling and golden on top.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the béchamel sauce.
- Make sure to not overfill the cannelloni to prevent them from bursting during cooking.
