Description

A delicious and crispy appetizer featuring seasoned ground beef wrapped in flaky filo pastry.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 pack filo pastry sheets (about 12 sheets)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted (for brushing)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef Filling:
    – Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
    – Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until it is browned.
    – Season with soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, and cumin. Stir well to combine all the ingredients. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the flavors are well infused. Set aside to cool.
  2. Assemble the Rolls:
    – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    – Take one sheet of filo pastry and brush it lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush again. Repeat until you have 3 layers.
    – Cut the layered filo into 3 equal strips.
    – Place a spoonful of the beef mixture at one end of each strip and roll up carefully, tucking in the sides as you go along to enclose the filling.
  3. Baking:
    – Place the rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with more melted butter.
    – Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish.
    – Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the filo is golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • Keep the filo pastry sheets covered with a damp cloth while working to prevent them from drying out.
  • You can add other spices or herbs to the beef mixture according to your taste preferences.
  • Serve with a side dipping sauce such as soy sauce or sweet chili sauce for extra flavor.
