  • 1.5 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the 1.5 cups of chocolate chips, and nuts if using.
  5. Prepare the Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips over the top.
  6. Bake: Bake in preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, lift the bars out using the parchment paper and cut into squares.

Notes

  • For extra gooey bars, underbake slightly, checking doneness around 22 minutes.
