Description

A deliciously sweet monkey bread made with orange zest and a sugary coating.


Ingredients

  • 2 tsp active dry yeast

  • 2 eggs (large)
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 0 cup orange juice (fresh)
  • 0 tsp salt
  • 0 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 0 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp orange juice
  • 0 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk with sugar and let sit until foamy.
  2. Mix flour, salt, eggs, melted butter, orange zest, and juice to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead dough until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise until doubled.
  4. Cut dough into small pieces.
  5. Dip each piece into melted butter, then coat in brown sugar and orange zest.
  6. Layer dough pieces into a greased bundt pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden.
  8. Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm monkey bread.

Notes

  • The dough should be soft but not too sticky.
  • For added flavor, a sprinkle of cinnamon can be mixed with the sugar for coating.
