Description

A rich chocolate cream pie topped with whipped cream and dark chocolate curls.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Pie Crust (baked and cooled, also could use any pre-made Oreo or graham cracker crust)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 6 ounces unsweetened chocolate or dark chocolate bar (coarsely chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened, but still cold)
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • 1 Dark Chocolate Candy Bar (coarsely chopped, can use a vegetable peeler for chocolate curls, add more if desired)

Instructions

  1. In small saucepan, mix sugar and eggs together and mix until well blended.
  2. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until temperature reaches 160° and mixture coats the back of a spoon. Remove from the heat.
  3. Stir in chocolate and vanilla until smooth, stirring occasionally to reach lukewarm 90°.
  4. In a large bowl, using a mixer, cream butter until light and fluffy.
  5. Add cooled egg mixture and beat on high speed for 5 minutes or so.
  6. Pour into baked crust and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours before serving, make it 6 hours for extra firm filling.
  7. Garnish with whipped cream and chopped dark chocolate.

Notes

  • For a firmer filling, refrigerate for 6 hours.
  • Use a vegetable peeler to create chocolate curls for garnishing.
