A delicious Monte Cristo casserole that combines the richness of eggs, savory meats, and melty cheese.

- 6 large Eggs
- 2 cups Milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Salt
- 6 cups Bread Cubes
- 8 oz Deli Ham
- 8 oz Turkey
- 2 cups Shredded Swiss Cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Grease the bottom and sides of the baking dish liberally.
- Cut the bread into one-inch cubes and distribute half of the bread cubes across the bottom of the greased baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until frothy.
- Layer ham and turkey over the first layer of bread cubes, then top with the remaining bread cubes.
- Gently pour the prepared egg mixture over the layers in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese over the top layer.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
- Let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
- Before serving, dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup.
Notes
- This casserole can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
- Feel free to substitute chicken for the turkey if desired.
- Top with fresh berries for a burst of flavor.
