Description

A delicious and hearty dish featuring tender beef and rich flavors, served over noodles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz noodles (ramen, udon, or spaghetti)
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste or chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles – Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside. I like to toss them lightly with a drop of sesame oil so they don’t stick together while the beef cooks.
  2. Prepare the sauce – In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, beef broth, and cornstarch until smooth. This sauce will thicken beautifully when it hits the hot pan, creating that signature coating for the noodles.
  3. Sear the beef – Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned. The goal is to sear it quickly so the meat stays tender and juicy.
  4. Add aromatics – Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. As they cook, the kitchen fills with an incredible fragrance that signals something delicious is coming together.
  5. Build the sauce – Pour the prepared sauce into the pan and stir well. Let it simmer for a few minutes until it thickens and coats the beef in a glossy layer.
  6. Combine noodles and sauce – Add the cooked noodles directly into the skillet. Toss everything together until the noodles are evenly coated in the rich sauce.
  7. Garnish and serve – Top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve the Korean beef noodles hot while the sauce is still silky and fragrant.
