Description

A classic shepherd’s pie made with ground meat, vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared with butter and cream)
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, sauté the onions over medium heat until translucent.
  3. Add the diced carrots and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in the ground meat, browning it completely.
  5. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper; simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. Mix in the frozen peas until heated through.
  7. Spread the meat mixture in a baking dish and top generously with mashed potatoes.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the top is golden brown.
